history

A chapel was mentioned in 1499. In 1692, after it was destroyed by an avalanche, a new building was built and in 1694 it was made an expositur. In 1959, the Gortipohler Curatiechronik from 1854 by the curate Jacob Börnbacher was found when the wooden shingles of the onion dome were re-covered in the tower knob . From 1970 to 1971 an extension and restoration was carried out.

From 1951 to 1973 the pastor, Christian social politician and former member of the state parliament Josef Feurstein (1887–1973) was curate of the Kuratienkirche.

architecture

The church building consists of a nave and a retracted choir. In the south wall of the nave is a niche with the figure of a bishop around 1690, presumably St. Nicholas. The north tower with onion dome has an octagonal bell storey with coupled round arch and oval sound openings. The sacristy is built on the south side of the tower. The portal on the western gable facade has a brickwork sign (vestibule).

The left Side altar with pillars decorated with grapes (1690) and the altarpiece Mary and Child , painted in 1901 by Anton Jehly , carries a figure of Jesus from the 20th century. The right side altar with twisted columns (1695) and the altarpiece Anna and Maria , painted in 1901 by Anton Jehly, has an attachment figure of St. Josef from the 20th century.

The pulpit has a basket from around 1820 with a sound cover with the figure of Moses from 1770. The figure Johannes Nepomuk and a crucifix were created in 1770 by the sculptor Johann Ladner . The bank docks are marked with Master Hans Ulrich Tschanun 1766 . The Stations of the Cross in rococo frames by Hans Ulrich Tschanun from 1766 painted by Jakob Bertle.

There is a bell from 1486.

organ

organ

The organ is the oldest in the Montafon. It is a one-manual Appenzell house organ from the 17th century with six registers and a beautifully decorated prospectus from 1766. It was acquired in 1863 by the Kasper brothers from Gortipohl and given to the church in their home town. The organ was supplemented by the organ builder Alois Schönach with a pedal and a separate pedal register in 1866 and placed in the church. In 1965/66 it was renovated by the Dornbirn organ builder Edmund Hohn .
