Alois Schönach

Alois Schönach (born July 12, 1811 in Flirsch , † October 30, 1899 in Meran ) was an Austrian organ builder .

Life

After his three-year apprenticeship as a carpenter, he first worked in Vienna before he went on a five-year wandering a. a. worked with Alois Hörbiger in Celje and with Joseph Mohrherr in Innsbruck . In 1842 he founded a workshop in Meran; After accepting several orders in Vorarlberg , he settled in Rankweil in 1858 , where he ran an organ workshop until 1874. One of his students at this time was Anton Behmann . Returned to Merano in 1877, he worked as a piano tuner. Schönach died there on October 30, 1899.

The majority of its organs are located in Tyrol , Vorarlberg , Liechtenstein and Switzerland .
