Josef Feurstein

Josef Feurstein (born January 14, 1887 in Dornbirn ; † July 23, 1973 in Gortipohl ) was an Austrian politician ( CSP ). From 1932 to 1934 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

Josef Feurstein attended elementary school in Dornbirn - Hatlerdorf and graduated from the municipal high school in Bregenz from 1897 to 1905. He studied theology in Brixen , was ordained a priest on June 29, 1909 and was chaplain in Riefensberg from 1909 to 1912 . He also worked as a chaplain in Hohenems from 1912 to 1914 and was an early knife in Rankweil in 1914 . During the First World War, between 1915 and 1918 he was deployed as a field curate on the southern front. From 1918 to 1920 he was a parish assistant in Hohenems. From 1920 to 1922 he was parish provisional in Hohenems. From 1923 to 1926 he took a study vacation at the University of Innsbruck and obtained his doctorate in law in 1926. He then went on to study philosophy and economics. Between 1927 and 1951 he worked as an early knife in St. Gallenkirch and was most recently curate of the Kuratienkirche Gortipohl from 1951 to 1973 .

Politics and functions

Josef Feurstein was a member of the Christian Social Party and was active in the student union AV Austria Innsbruck and the Catholic workers' association in Hohenems. He was involved in the Christian trade union Hohenems , the Catholic workers' association, and was a co-founder of the Reich Association of Catholic Youth in St. Gallenkirch. As a member of the Bludenz constituency, he represented the Christian Social Party in the Vorarlberg state parliament from November 22, 1932, and had to renounce his mandate on December 15, 1933, as all church dignitaries had to give up their political mandates on the instructions of the church authorities in 1933.

Private

Josef Feurstein was born as the son of the iron turner Alois Feurstein and his wife Maria Magdalena Thurnher. Both of his parents were born in Dornbirn.
