Kurban Günebakan (born September 13, 1978 in Kars ) is a former Turkish super heavyweight boxer .

Career

Günebakan was eliminated from the 2002 European Championships in Perm in the round of 16 against Alexander Powetkin and at the 2004 European Championships in Pula also in the round of 16 against David Price .

In 2005 he won a bronze medal at the Championships of the European Union in Cagliari and in 2006 a bronze medal at the European Championships in Plovdiv , when he was only defeated in the semi-finals against Robert Helenius .

At the 2007 World Championships in Chicago he lost in the second preliminary round against Michael Hunter from the USA. In 2008 he took part in the European Olympic qualification tournaments in Pescara and Athens , but was eliminated both times in the round of 16.

In July 2009 he played a professional fight in Istanbul and won it over four rounds on points against the Ukrainian Oleksander Mileiko.
