Kurd Albrecht von Ziegner

Kurd Albrecht von Ziegner (born March 26, 1918 in Stettin ; † October 3, 2016 , Mechtersen ) was an international dressage trainer, formerly a member of the cavalry and an officer in the German Armed Forces .

Life

Kurd Albrecht was born as the son of a successful tournament rider and a cavalry officer. At the age of 12 he spent his holidays in Grimma with his uncle Dietrich von Choltitz . This was the cornerstone for the later enthusiasm for horses and equestrian sports, and to influence them significantly. As early as 1954 he was awarded the Golden Riding Badge due to his tournament success in dressage and jumping . In 1956 he joined the Bundeswehr and in 1976 was passed as a colonel .

Coaching career

Kurd Albrecht von Ziegner trained many riders around the world and was formative for the development of dressage in the USA
