The Kurfürstenstraße is a 700-meter-long street in the Munich districts of Schwabing and Maxvorstadt . It leads north from Adalbertstrasse to Kurfürstenplatz . With the house numbers 4, 7, 16, 18–20, 22, 28–31, 34, 45, 49 and 53, there are a total of 15 architectural monuments on Kurfürstenstrasse.
history
The original course of the street corresponds to that of the middle section of the Türkengraben , a planned artificial water connection with which the Munich Residence was to be connected to the canal network of the castles of Nymphenburg , Schleissheim and Dachau . It was named in 1915 (like the Kurfürstenplatz ) after the Elector Maximilian II. Emanuel .
Known residents
During the Weimar Republic , the national revolutionary magazine Arminius had its headquarters on Kurfürstenstrasse.
In 1972, the then occasional actor Michael Cromer opened his hair salon Modern Coiffeur Munich here . He is the origin of the Modern Creation Munich brand .
