Kurosh Abbasi

Kurosch Abbasi (born February 24, 1986 in Giessen ) is a German actor and singer .

Life

Kurosch Abbasi was already on stage before studying at the Stadttheater Gießen in various music theater productions, including Evita, Anatevka, Falstaff, Die Csardasfürstin, Nabucco, Lucrezia Borgia, The Bartered Bride and The Threepenny Opera. From 2007 to 2011 he completed his studies at the Bavarian Theater Academy August Everding . During this time he studied singing with Vicki Hall, Sarah Yorke and Richard Salter and acting with Frieder Kranz, Kathrin Ackermann and Sebastian Mirow . In 2005 he played the leading role of Damian Gainsborough in the world premiere of Rachel - The Musical at the World Youth Day in Cologne and Trier .

This was followed by engagements at the Deutsches Theater Munich as Benjamin Coffin in the musical Rent , as Demetrius & Lysander in The Fairy Queen at the Stadttheater Ingolstadt and as Harry Easter in Street Scene at the Prinzregententheater Munich. In the German premiere of Spring Awakening , he played the role of Melchior Gabor . Immediately after completing his studies, Kurosch Abbasi played the role of Luigi Lucheni in the successful musical Elisabeth (director: Harry Kupfer) from 2011 to 2016 in the Raimund Theater in Vienna , in the Shanghai Culture Square Theater in China, in the Teatro il Rossetti in Trieste in Italy and on tour Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

2014–2015 he could be seen as Udo Lindenberg and Steve in the musical Hinterm Horizont at the “Stage Theater am Potsdamer Platz” in Berlin. He then played the Mercutio in the Swiss premiere of Romeo & Juliet at the Thunerseespiele in Switzerland. In the world premiere of the musical Don Camillo & Peppone (directed by Andreas Gergen) by Michael Kunze and Dario Farina, he was seen as the revolutionary Mariolino at the Theater St.Gallen and from January 2017 at the Ronacher Wien (Vereinigte Bühnen Wien). In 2017 Kurosch Abbasi could be seen as Annas in the rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar (Vereinigte Bühnen Wien).

He appears as Perchik in the anniversary version of Anatevka (director: Barrie Kosky) on the stage of the Komische Oper Berlin and creates the male lead Prince Alexander at the Brothers Grimm Festival in the world premiere of Sleeping Beauty (director: Alex Balga).

Kurosch Abbasi is a scholarship holder of the German Stage Association and the Fanny Carlita Foundation.
