The rose variety 'Kuroshinju' (from Japanese for 'black pearl', syn. 'Black Pearl', 'Kuro-Shinjyu') is a deep, dark red hybrid tea that was bred by Seizo Suzuki in 1989 and launched on the Japanese market in the same year . The rose variety is traded on the international market under the name 'Black Pearl'.

education

The upright rose 'Kuroshinju' forms a large, compact shrub . The rose plant is about 120 cm to a maximum of 180 cm high and 60 to 90 cm wide. The tall, centered rose petals of the 'Kuroshinju' have a classic hybrid tea rose shape in the juvenile stage and are usually arranged individually on the shoots that are moderately spiked .

The deep dark red to velvet red, about 12 cm large, double-filled flowers are formed from about 26 to 40 curved petals , which in a later flowering stage loosely bend outwards and form a flat flower. In the late flowering stage, the bright yellow- orange stamens become visible in the yellow center of the flower . The rose has shiny, dark green, leathery leaves that contrast sharply with the dark red flowers. The rose variety 'Kuroshinju' is characterized by an extremely subtle scent .

This remounting hybrid tea is hardy ( USDA climate zones 6b to 9b). The rose 'Kuroshinju' thrives in well-drained, weakly acidic to weakly alkaline soil in preferably sunny locations. The 'Kuroshinju' rose blooms from June to autumn and is extremely resistant to the well-known rose diseases . Only in humid climates are the rose plants susceptible to star soot .

The 'Kuroshinju' rose variety is ideal as a cut flower . However, it is also used for planting formal flower borders .

The 'Kuroshinju' rose variety is shown in numerous rosaries and gardens around the world, including the Keisei Rose Nursery (Japan), Rosaholic's Southern California Garden , the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden and Cliff's High Desert Garden (all California). The dark red hybrid tea, together with the rose varieties ' Kagayaki', 'Olympic Torch', 'Kampai', 'Honju' or 'Kosai', is one of the internationally successful breeds of the Japanese rose breeder Seizo Suzuki.
