Braunschweiger Strasse 1–10, 98–108 is a listed street in Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It covers the eastern end of Braunschweiger Straße in the Magdeburg district of Sudenburg , up to the confluence of the street with Halberstädter Straße. The monuments area also includes the buildings Braunschweiger Straße 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 8 , 9 , 10 , 99 , 100 , 101, 102 , 103 , 104 , 105 , 106 , 107 and Braunschweiger Straße 108, Halberstädter Strasse 88 .

Architecture and history

The street, originally called Neuer Weg , encompasses largely preserved Wilhelminian-style buildings on both sides , which were built from 1885. The two- to five-storey buildings have a representative design and are built as residential and commercial buildings in the form of a perimeter block . Most of the facades are in the neo-renaissance style and have a strong structure. Particularly noteworthy are the houses number 6, 7, arranged as a point de vue at a bend in the street, formerly the residence of the servants of the Villa Wolf, and number 8, designed in the style of late classicism .

In the local monument register , the street is listed as a monument area under registration number 094 81 925 .

The street is considered to be a significant testimony to the urban development of Sudenburg during the industrialization of the Wilhelminian era.
