Kurt Beaujean

Kurt Beaujean (born May 13, 1928 in Stutzhaus , Gotha district ; † December 8, 1999 ) was a German geodesist and officer . He was major general and head of the military topographical service (MTD) of the National People's Army (NVA) of the GDR .

Life

Beaujean was born the son of an engineer. After school and high school he did the Reich Labor Service in 1945 and then military service in the Wehrmacht as an infantry soldier . Towards the end of the war he was taken prisoner by the US .

After returning home in 1945, he attended high school for three years and worked as a forest worker at the Oberhof Forestry Office in 1948/49 . In September 1949 he joined the People's Police . From 1949 to 1950 he was a candidate for the VP , group leader and department head in the VP readiness Langensalza . From 1950 to 1952 he was head of training in the command of the VP readiness hall . Beaujean became a member of the SED in 1951 . In 1952/1953 he attended the higher officers' school and was then a teacher of military topography. From 1958 to 1964 he stayed at a military academy in the Soviet Union. After his return he was first deputy, then from 1966 head of the NVA's military topographical service. On October 7, 1974, he was appointed major general, on December 31, 1988, he resigned from the NVA.
