Kurt Debes

Kurt Debes (born January 8, 1916 in Eisenach ) is a former German politician ( NDPD ). He was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

The son of a postman learned to be an upholsterer and decorator after attending primary school from 1930 to 1934. From 1934 to 1939 he worked as a car upholsterer. In 1937 Debes became a member of the NSDAP . From 1939 he did military service in the Wehrmacht and became a prisoner of war .

After the Second World War , he returned to his job and in 1950 passed the master's examination as an upholsterer and decorator. From 1952 to 1958 he worked as a self-employed master craftsman in Eisenach. Debes became a member of the NDPD in 1952 and of the Society for German-Soviet Friendship (DSF) and People's Solidarity in 1955 . In the same year he became a member of the NDPD district committee in Eisenach. In 1958 he became a member of the district committee of the National Front and city councilor for the city of Eisenach. In 1958 Debes founded the production cooperative (PGH) of the upholstery and decorator trade “Wartburg” in Eisenach (the first PGH in the Eisenach district ) and was elected its first chairman. From 1958 to 1967 he represented his party as a member of the People's Chamber. At the DSF congresses in 1966, 1970 and 1978 he was elected to the central board of DSF.
