Kurt Friedrich (Economist)

Kurt Albin Friedrich (born May 30, 1903 in Hildburghausen ; † August 13, 1944 in the Fuhlsbüttel police prison ) was a German economist , communist resistance fighter against National Socialism and victims of National Socialism .

Life

Friedrich attended elementary school and a higher educational institution, where he acquired the university entrance qualification . He then took up a degree in economics , which he completed with an exam . Friedrich went to Hamburg , where he in the company IG Farben a position as CFO employee recorded. During the Weimar Republic , he joined the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) and was active against the emergence of National Socialism . Even after the transfer of power to the NSDAP , he and his wife Gerda participated in the illegal resistance and continued this despite repeated arrests. He got in touch with the resistance group " Bästlein-Jacob-Abshagen ", to whose leadership he belonged. In the information apparatus (IA) of the KPD he collected material and passed it on, in which the Wehrmacht reports were critically questioned. On June 13, 1944, he was arrested by the Gestapo and taken to the Fuhlsbüttel police prison, where he was severely tortured . As a result of this torture, he died two months later.
