Kurt Lange (politician)

Kurt Lange (born July 4, 1926 in Berlin ; † June 22, 2005 there ) was a German artist and politician of the SPD .

Kurt Lange attended a grammar school , but was drafted by the Wehrmacht in 1943 before graduating from high school . After the Second World War he did an apprenticeship as a glazier and attended evening school for painting and graphics, where he was taught by Siegfried Czerny and Gottfried Richter . At the same time he completed his training as an art glass at the technical school for glass painting. In 1952 he was able to successfully complete the master's examination and then received further training from the painter Franz Frank Renee and from the anatomy professor Wilhelm Tank . In 1963 he took over his father's art and frame business and art glasswork.

In addition to his work, Lange also painted oil paintings, watercolors and drawings. These have been exhibited several times in the USA and Berlin, most recently in 2019.

Lange was also politically active. In the Berlin election in 1990 he was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives, where he won the direct mandate in the Prenzlauer Berg 3 constituency . He resigned from parliament in 1995. Until shortly before his death he worked as a department cashier within the SPD association Prenzlauer Berg, and was also chairman of the 60plus working group there.
