Kurt Pietzsch

Albin Kurt Pietzsch (born September 29, 1884 in Altstadt-Borna ; † September 27, 1964 in Penig ) was director and chief geologist of the Freiberg state geological service and professor for many years .

At Easter 1903 Pietzsch obtained the certificate of maturity at the Bornaer Realgymnasium. He studied natural sciences and mathematics at the University of Leipzig . Starting in the summer semester of 1905, he was enrolled at Heidelberg University for one year .

In 1909 Pietzsch submitted his dissertation The geological conditions of Upper Lusatia between Görlitz, Weissenberg and Niesky at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Leipzig in order to obtain a doctorate. In November 1933 he signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler .

He was editor of the book Geology of Saxony (VEB Deutscher Verlag der Wissenschaften, Berlin, 3rd edition, 1962).
