Kurt Preussler
Kurt Preussler (born March 26, 1919 in Munich , † April 15, 2006 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 1949 to 1971 he was a member of the National Council .
After primary school, Preussler attended the Academic Gymnasium in Salzburg between 1929 and 1937 and passed the Matura in 1937 . He then studied political science for six semesters at the University of Innsbruck and from 1937 did military service in the Austrian Armed Forces. Between 1939 and 1945 he had to do military service in World War II , after which he worked for the post office between 1945 and 1946. As a result, Preussler was employed as the state secretary of the Free Trade Association from 1946 to 1951, then from 1951 to 1954 as department head and from 1954 to 1976 as state director of the workers' pension insurance company in Salzburg.
Preussler began his political commitment as a member of the red hawks, and in 1933 he also joined the Social Democratic Party. After the Second World War, he held the position of chairman of the SPÖ's Old Town section in Salzburg, from 1948 to 1953 he was deputy SPÖ district party chairman and from 1953 to 1974 district party chairman of the SPÖ Salzburg-Stadt. Preussler took on his first political mandate in 1962 as a municipal councilor in Salzburg, a function he held until 1967. In addition, Preussler was the club chairman of the SPÖ municipal council group. Preussler also represented the SPÖ from November 8, 1949 to November 4, 1971 in the National Council. After his political career, he was President of the Salzburger Volkshilfe between 1971 and 1998 .
