Kurt Riemer (musician)
Kurt Riemer (born April 3, 1913 in Leipzig ; † November 28, 1989 there ) was a German jazz and entertainment musician ( trumpet , orchestra conductor). He was sometimes referred to as the "German Harry James ".

Riemer studied at the conservatory in his hometown. At first he worked with Richard Zeuner and then appeared as a soloist with Oscar Joost in Berlin. From 1934 he played in Adalbert Lutter's orchestra , then with Horst Winter and Curt Hasenpflug . He also worked as a studio musician , for example with Theo Reuter , and on film scores for UFA . In 1941 he was drafted as a soldier; He returned from American captivity in 1945.
He founded his own large-format band, which he had to reduce to a sextet in the late 1940s . Since 1958 he has headed an orchestra with which he played on the ships of the Hamburg-America Line . In the 1960s he directed the Reemtsma-Werke orchestra in Hamburg.
