Kurt Schadegg

Kurt Schadegg (* 1932 ) is a former Swiss football and ice hockey coach . He coached, among others, FC St. Gallen and EHC Chur .

Career

Kurt Schadegg grew up in Chur . As a junior he was active in the local football and ice hockey club. When he was 18, he decided to become a PE teacher. He achieved this goal in 1956 by successfully completing a sports teacher degree at the Federal Institute of Technology .

Coaching stations

After graduating, he taught at the Schiers Middle School . At the same time he became the trainer of the EHC Chur. His greatest success with the Churs was his promotion to the National League B in 1962. From then on, the coach concentrated on football and completed all coaching courses up to and including the instructor. A year later, in 1963, he moved to eastern Switzerland on business. He introduced apprentice sport to the large company Bühler AG in Uzwil and has been teaching their apprentices ever since.

At the same time, he coached the local football club, the second division club FC Uzwil. He was completely surprised when FC St. Gallen asked in 1971 whether he would be interested in taking over the coaching position at FC St. Gallen. He accepted the office and remained the coach of FC St. Gallen for four years, the first three years together with Željko Perušić . After his discharge there, he did not take any new jobs and concentrated on apprentice sports at Bühler. According to his own statements, he taught 4,000 apprentices. After the vocational schools took over the sports lessons, he stepped down. Today he lives with his wife Annemarie in Oberuzwil .
