Kurt Tenner

Kurt von Tenner (born July 18, 1907 in Kalksburg , today Vienna-Liesing , † November 19, 1995 in Vienna ) was an Austrian conductor and composer .

Life

Tenner studied at the New Vienna Conservatory . At the age of 24 (1931) he became Kapellmeister at the Graz Opera House . From 1937 to 1939 he worked as a guest conductor in the Städtische Oper zu Berlin, but also at the opera houses in Wuppertal and Trier . After engagements in the city theaters of Liegnitz (today: Legnica , Poland), Flensburg and the Antwerp Opera (1941–1943), he moved to the Vienna State Opera after the Second World War in 1945 .

In 1948/49 Tenner was the opera director at the Klagenfurt City Theater . From 1949 to 1972 Tenner then worked for ORF (radio) as a conductor and unit manager. In this context he directed the Great Vienna Radio Orchestra (Radio Symphony Orchestra) Vienna .

His daughter is the music journalist and ORF program director Haide Tenner .
