Kurt Trautwein (microbiologist)

Kurt Trautwein (born January 18, 1881 in Schleissheim , † October 28, 1958 in Munich ) was a German microbiologist .

Life

Trautwein, who taught at the Technical University of Munich , was suspended from service in the National Socialist German Reich for racist reasons. In 1946 he returned to his profession as a full professor of the brewing faculty in Weihenstephan .

In 1958 he took part in the campaign against atomic death together with Renate Riemeck and 42 other university professors .

Trautwein was married to the painter Marie Edith Cohen . His daughter Johanna married the writer Hermann Lenz , in whose autobiographical novels she appears as Treutlein Hanni . Kurt Trautwein himself is also mentioned more often in these works.

A photo from 1912, which is now in the possession of the Deutsches Museum in Munich, shows him on a study trip with Walther von Dyck and other scientists on board the steamer America .
