Kurt Urbanek

Kurt Urbanek (born October 10, 1884 in Neisse / Upper Silesia , † April 14, 1973 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German administrative lawyer.

Life and work

After passing the state law examination and subsequent legal traineeship, Urbanek worked from 1913 to 1920 as Mayor of Roßberg in Upper Silesia .

From 1920-22 he worked as the German plebiscite commissioner for the preparation of the referendum in Upper Silesia and, in this office, together with Hans Lukaschek, made great contributions to the positive outcome of the vote for Germany. From 1922–33 he worked as district administrator in the district of Beuthen-Tarnowitz in the province of Upper Silesia until his removal by the National Socialists .

He held his last public office from 1945-48 as President of the Regional Court in Altenburg / Thuringia .
