Johann Michael Freiherr von Welser

Johann Michael "Hans" Freiherr von Welser (born August 5, 1869 in Anspach ; † October 4, 1943 at Neunhof Castle near Lauf an der Pegnitz ) was a German administrative lawyer.

Life and work

He came from the Ulm line of the old patrician family Welser . His parents were the district president Ludwig von Welser (1841–1931) and Charlotte born. Haller von Hallerstein (1844–1873).

In 1887, while studying law , he became a member of the Bubenreuther Erlangen fraternity . After passing the state law examination and subsequent legal traineeship, von Welser worked from 1914 to 1919 as a lecturer in the Reich Office of the Interior. In 1920 he was appointed ministerial director and head of the constitutional department in the Reich Ministry of the Interior . From 1921 to 1923 he worked in the same ministry as State Secretary , until his dismissal by the Social Democratic Minister Wilhelm Sollmann and his replacement by Ministerialrat Erich Zweigert, who was taken over from the Reich Ministry of Justice .

Von Welser returned to the Bavarian civil service and served as State Secretary in the Bavarian Ministry of Commerce in 1927/28 .
