Kurt Utermann

Kurt Utermann (born August 27, 1905 in Duisburg ; † May 9, 1986 ) was a German sociologist and social work scientist. In the 1950s he gave social work important impulses for a sociological foundation.

After studying political science and history Utermann was 1,931 at the University of Berlin Dr. phil. PhD. From 1949 to 1953 he worked at the social research center at the University of Münster in Dortmund, where he worked on the youth of the post-war period and was also a research group leader for the colliery and community study . From the 1960s onwards, Utermann turned more towards social work and in 1971 became a lecturer at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences , and since 1983 honorary professor there.

Utermann translated and revised one of the first textbooks on community work .
