Kurt von Koseritz

Friedrich Fedor Kurt von Koseritz (born October 25, 1838 in Dessau , † March 1, 1916 in Gernrode / Harz ) was a German statesman.

Koseritz attended high school in Dessau. After graduating from high school, he studied philosophy , political science and law at the University of Leipzig and the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . In 1859 he became a member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg . After graduation and the doctorate to Dr. jur. In 1861 he became an auscultator at the district administration in Köthen and in 1866 a ducal-Anhalt government trainee. In 1872 he entered the Prussian civil service. From 1873 to 1889 he was district administrator for the district of Wittenberg . From 1890 to 1892 he was police chief in Potsdam . In 1892 he was appointed as the successor to Anton von Krosigk as the Anhalt Minister of House and State . He held the office until 1903. In his retirement he lived on his estate on Lake Garda .

From 1886 to 1892 Koseritz sat as a member of the Merseburg constituency 2 (Schweinitz, Wittenberg) in the Prussian House of Representatives . He belonged to the faction of the Conservative Party . In the meantime, he resigned from the Prussian House of Representatives on May 16, 1892, one day after his appointment as Minister of State in Anhalt, due to his promotion to Police President. He acquired large parts of the Sirmione peninsula in Lake Garda and built the Villa von Koseritz there from 1898. He lived there from his retirement in 1903 until he was expropriated by the Italian state in 1915 in the First World War as a result of the London Treaty . Today the villa is operated as a luxury hotel under the name Villa Cortine.
