Kusaila

Kusaila or Aksil ( Central Atlas Tamazight ⴰⴽⵙⵉⵍ Aksil ) († 688 ) was the leader of the Auraba - Berbers against the Muslims .

Kusaila was the leader of the Auraba Berbers in the Aures area . This probably had about Byzantium the Christianity adopted, but ended after 681 Uqba ibn Nafi , the Muslim governor of Ifriqiya submit. They had to provide auxiliary troops for his move to the Atlantic .

During the retreat of Uqba ibn Nafi, Kusaila succeeded in forming a coalition of Berber tribes, which defeated the Arab army at Biskra in 683 , and Uqba ibn Nafi also fell. In the following years Kusaila occupied Kairuan and ruled the areas of Algeria , Tunisia and Tripolitania . In 688 he fell in combat against Umayyad troops off Kairuan.
