Lake Kvarnbergsvattnet is located in the municipality of Strömsund in Jämtland County, in the historic Swedish province of Jämtland, northwest of Strömsund . At an altitude of 303 to 313 m above sea level. The lake, which has been permanently regulated since 1950, is 65.8 km² in size and has a maximum depth of 99 meters. The lake is the uppermost of the chain of lakes in Ströms Vattudal in Sweden and thus belongs to the Ångermanälven river system . One of the lake's tributaries is the Havdalselva, which comes from Lake Havdalsvatnet in Norway. Tunnsjøen , a good 100 km² in size to the west of the Norwegian sidealready drains to the European Arctic Ocean .
The lake is around 30 long and 4 km wide and stretches from the border with Norway in the west to Gäddede in the east. Below Gäddede, the lake Hetögeln joins, which turns into the lake Fågelsjön . The Swedish Länsväg 342 leads through Gäddede to the Norwegian border.
