Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu

Honorable Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu (* 1952 in Agogo ; † September 24, 2008 in South Africa ) was a Ghanaian politician. In addition to his seat in the parliament of Ghana for the constituency of Asante Akyem Nord, he was Minister of Finance and Minister of Economic Planning in the government under President John Agyekum Kufuor .

Baah-Wiredu attended high school in Kumasi between 1967 and 1972 . He did his GCE and enrolled in Prempeh College between 1972 and 1974. At the University of Ghana in Legon, a district of Accra , he studied and in administrative sciences. In 1981 he enrolled at the Institute for Auditing and graduated in 1985 as an auditor.

He has worked for many companies in his professional career, including Ghana Airways Corporation and the Volta River Authority , most recently he was a partner at the consulting firm Asante Wiredu and Associates and at Ananse Systems as a finance manager and consultant in the IT department.

In the election year 1992 he ran for a seat in parliament, but could not move into parliament due to the election boycott . In the 1996, 2000 and 2004 elections, however, he won the Asante Akyem North constituency and has been a member of parliament ever since.

He was Minister for Local and Rural Development from 2001 to 2003, Minister for Education, Youth and Sports from 2003 to 2005, and from 2005 Yaw Osafo-Maafo was appointed Minister for Finance and Economic Planning. Baah-Wiredu died on September 24, 2008 in a South African hospital.
