The Kwangwoon University , German Kwangwoon University , is a private university in Seoul , South Korea , and is one of the most prestigious universities in the country in the field of engineering and natural sciences.

history

In 1934 the Chosun Radio Training Center was founded by Choi Kwang-woon ( 조 광운 ) as a radio training facility. In 1964 it was transformed into the Electrotechnical College ( Kwangwoon Electronic Engineering College ) under Rector Choi Eung-cheon ( 조응천 ) . In 1976 this was renamed Kwangwoon Engineering College , 1981 Kwangwoon College and 1987 Kwangwoon University , the current name. The symbol of the university is a pegasus .

Rankings

In the number of technology transfers per person, it reached 2nd place in 2008 and in terms of research efficiency of technology transfers, it was the top in South Korea. In 2012 it was in second place for publications in foreign trade journals.
