Kyburg Castle

The Kyburgiade is a chamber music festival that takes place every summer in the courtyard of the Kyburg . When the weather is bad, games are played in the town hall in Winterthur .

The festival was founded in 1992 by the three siblings Stephan Goerner (cellist with the Carmina Quartet ), Adrian Goerner and Ruth Zenger. Radio DRS 2 broadcast concerts of the festival and thus made it more popular. In 1999 the festival was awarded the City of Winterthur Culture Prize. From 1992-2017 Stephan Goerner was artistic director, since 2018 the artistic director has been Markus Schirmer .

Since 2009 there has been a "Lenzburgiade" based on the event at the Kyburg at Schloss Lenzburg , also under the artistic direction of Markus Schirmer .

Musicians and ensembles such as the Hagen Quartet , Heinrich Schiff , Paul Meyer , Wolfgang Meyer , Vogler Quartet , Carmina Quartet , Olaf Bär , Europa Galante , Maurice Steger , Ensemble Kapsberger , Rolf Lislevand , Il Giardino Armonico , the Minetti Quartet , Benjamin Schmid have performed , Patrick Demenga, Josef Gilgenreiner or Wolfram Berger .

There are free city ​​bus Winterthur shuttles from Winterthur main train station directly to Kyburg. For private transport there are parking spaces within a 15–20 minute walk outside the village of Kyburg .
