Wilhelm Weidemann

Wilhelm Weidemann (born December 14, 1892 in Gumbinnen , † November 13, 1971 in Berlin-Köpenick ) was a German teacher and politician ( SPD ).

Life

After graduating from primary school in Gumbinnen, Weidemann first went to the preparatory institute in Pillkallen and then attended the teachers' seminars in Memel and Angerburg . He passed the first teacher examination in 1913 and then worked as a primary school teacher in Gumbinnen and Stannaitschen . His professional activity was interrupted by his participation in the First World War. In 1914 he was drafted as a soldier. After being wounded twice, he was discharged from military service in 1917 with 40% damage. In the following years he worked as a teacher again, passed the second teacher examination in 1918 and then worked as a primary school teacher in Insterburg .

Weidemann joined the SPD. From 1919 to 1933 he was a city ​​councilor in Insterburg and from 1919 to 1921 and from 1926 to 1929 a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of East Prussia . From 1928 to 1933 he was a member of the Prussian state parliament . In 1933 he was dismissed as a primary school teacher and imprisoned several times during the Nazi era .

Weidemann became a member of the SED in 1946 . From 1950 he worked as a teacher in schools in Berlin and worked as a lecturer at the University of Education in Berlin .
