Kym Sims
Kym Sims (actually Kimberly Russell , born August 23, 1966 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American house and pop singer who had some dance hits in the 1990s . The 1991 single Too Blind to See It is her biggest commercial hit.
biography
At the beginning of her musical career, Kimberly Russell mainly sang advertising jingles . The first house track she was on is Conception's Love Me Right from 1988. Almost three years later she was played by Chicago house producer Steve "Silk" Hurley , who a.o. a. was discovered internationally by his 1987 hit Jack Your Body .
When house music was very popular with songs like Crystal Waters ' Gypsy Woman and Ce Ce Penistons Finally , Hurley recorded the dance hit Too Blind to See It with Sims , which became # 1 in the Hot Dance Music / Maxi Singles Sales , Reached # 38 on the Billboard Hot 100 and even rose to # 5 on the UK charts .
The follow-up single Take My Advice was placed in spring 1992 at position 9 in the Billboard Hot Dance Music / Maxi-Singles Sales as well as at number 86 in the US charts and at number 13 in England. The album Too Blind to See It rose to number 39 on the UK charts in April of that year. The release A Little Bit More made it to number 30 in the UK in June.
The song I Must Be Free , released in 1994, placed 5th in the Dance Music / Club Play Singles in 1995. One last time Sims managed to briefly enter the English charts in 1996 when their single We Gotta Love , which was also number 9 in the Dance Music / Club Play Singles, was number 58 there for a week. There were no further successes.
