Kyriaki Chryssomalli-Henrich

Kyriaki Chryssomalli-Henrich ( Greek Κυριακή Χρυσομάλλη -Henrich, also in the transcription Kiriaki Chrysomalli-Henrich , born January 18, 1946 in Thessaloniki ) is a German-Greek neo -Greek woman and translator .

life and work

Chryssomalli comes from refugee families, from Smyrna on her mother's side and from Eastern Thrace on her father's side . After studying Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1964–1969), she was a DAAD scholarship holder at the University of Hamburg from 1971 to 1972 . While still studying, she met Günther Steffen Henrich , who would later become Neo-Greek and Byzantine , with whom she has been married since 1971.

From 1972 to 1976 she continued her specialist studies with Athanasios Kambylis in Hamburg. She then worked as a teacher in bilingual Greek-German classes and at the Greek grammar school until 1982 . In 1993 she received her doctorate from Athanasios Kambylis with a dissertation on narrative technique with the modern Greek authors Stratis Myrivilis , Ilias Venesis and Evjenia Fakinu . Since then, in addition to her literary work, she has been a lecturer in Modern Greek at the University of Kiel . In the winter semester 2010/2011 she was visiting professor at the University of Cyprus .

With her husband Günther Steffen Henrich she has developed various lexicographical works. In addition to other own work on narratology it also has the theory of narration of Franz Stanzel 1999 translated into modern Greek. In 2006, translations of the literary works Childhood Pattern and The Divided Sky by Christa Wolf and Lost and Found by Siegfried Lenz were published . The German translation of an anthology on Ioannis Psycharis edited by Emmanuel Kriaras was published in 2010.
