The Kysylsuu ( Kyrgyz Кызыл-Суу ; Tajik Кизилсӯ Kysylsu ; meaning "Red River") is a headwaters of the Surchob (right headwaters of the Wachsch ) in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan .

The Kysylsuu rises on the southern flank of the Alai Mountains east of Sarytasch in southern Kyrgyzstan and flows in a westerly direction through the Alaital . Especially when the snow melts, it is fed by numerous tributaries and spreads in its broad bed of debris . The Kysylsuu leaves the Alaital at the Karamyk pass through a gorge to Tajikistan. Finally the Kysylsuu (in Tajikistan Kysylsu ) unites with the Muksu to form Surchob. The Kyzylsuu has a length of 235 km. It drains an area of 8,380 km². 86 km above the mouth, the mean discharge (MQ) is 40.6 m³ / s.

The "Eastern Kyzylsuu"

The smaller part of the Alaitals east of Tongmurun Pass is also from a Kysylsuu mentioned flow Kysylsuu dehydrated, which rises on the northern flank of the Transalaikette and Irkeshtam over after Xinjiang and Kashgar flows. To distinguish between the two rivers, one sometimes speaks of the "Western Kyzylsuu" and "Eastern Kyzylsuu".
