Kywal de Oliveira

Kywal de Oliveira (* 1947 in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil ) is a Brazilian diplomat. He has the rank of Ministro de Primeira Classe da Carreira de Diplomata do Ministério das Relações Exteriores .

Career

After studying law and social sciences at the former Universidade do Estado da Guanabara , Oliveira began in 1971 to prepare for a career as a diplomat. In 1976 he went to the Brazilian Embassy in Buenos Aires ( Argentina ) as the second secretary . He then held various positions in the missions in Rome , Madrid , La Paz and Miami . His first appointment as Consul General was for Sydney in 1995 .

From 2000, Oliveira was head of the office of the Brazilian representation in East Timor , when the country was still under UN administration , which was headed by the Brazilian Sérgio Vieira de Mello . After East Timor was given independence on May 20, 2002, Oliveira was appointed the first ambassador to East Timor by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva . The confirmation from the Federal Senate took place on March 26, 2003 (Mensagem Senado Federal 301/2002). Oliveira held the office until 2004, then he became Consul General in Rotterdam in September (appointment June 15, 2004) and from August 2006 again Consul General in Sydney.

On May 6, 2010, Oliveira was appointed Brazil’s first Consul General in Guangzhou . The opening of the Consulate General took place in November 2011. In 2013 Oliveira's service in China ended.

Kywal de Oliveira is married to Katia Oliveira and has two children.

In 2003 Oliveira received the Ordem do Mérito Militar.
