Wolfgang Längfeld (born March 13, 1937 in Kreuzburg, Upper Silesia , † February 13, 2012 in Irschenberg , Bavaria ) was a German film scholar .

Life

Wolfgang Längfeld was born on March 13, 1937 in Kreuzburg in Upper Silesia (today Kluczbork in Poland). Fled or expelled from Silesia to Germany together with mother and brother, the father was still at war at the time, later returned to work as a teacher. He grew up on a leash in Alfeld. High School. Studied in Göttingen and from 1968 to 1972 at the University of Television and Film in Munich.

From 1978 to 2002 he was a professor at the HFF, head of the film and television play department, and from 1992 to 1999 HFF vice president. He was the founder and from 1981 to 2002 artistic director of the International Festival of Munich Film Schools (IFFH). From 1990 he was also head of the script workshop in Munich. From 1992 to 1999 he was Vice President of the HFF, Munich. From 1993 to 2001 he was Vice President of the International Association of Film Schools (CILECT).

First marriage to Margarethe Längfeld, two daughters. Second marriage to Susanne Längfeld.

At the 32nd International Festival of Munich Film Schools in 2012, the Wolfgang Längfeld Prize will be awarded for the first time. The prize is donated by former students, companions and friends who are part of the Freundeskreis Wolfgang Längfeld e. V. have merged. It is endowed with 3000 euros and is awarded to the most original film of the festival by a special Wolfgang Längfeld jury.
