The longitudinally spotted ladybird , longitudinally striated ladybird or striped ladybird ( Myzia oblongoguttata ) is a beetle from the family of ladybirds (Coccinellidae). It is one of the largest ladybirds native to Central Europe.
features
The beetles are six to nine millimeters long. Their wings are rust-brown to red-brown in color and have whitish, elongated spots and lines that can also run into one another. In addition to the scutellum, there is always a white spot on both sides, the rest of the pattern is variable. The entire top is finely dotted. The pronotum is also rust-brown and is brightly colored on the sides. Their antennae and legs are brown.
Occurrence
The animals occur in Europe and Asia , far in the far north and also in North America . They live mainly in coniferous forests from low altitudes to the subalpine zone. They are mostly found on pine trees .
Way of life
The adults overwinter in the litter. They feed on aphids .
