Léocadie Salaün-Penquer , also Léocadie Hersent-Penquer (born February 14, 1817 at Château de Kerouartz in Lannilis ( Département Finistère ); † December 19, 1889 in Brest ) was a French writer.

Salaün-Penquer came from an old Breton family. Her father was the doctor Jacques Hersent and her maternal grandfather was General Marc-Antoine Coban (1763-1813).

Salaün-Penquer met the officer Victor Burle through her grandfather and married him around 1842. In 1849, at the age of 32, she married the doctor Auguste Salaün-Penquer for the second time on September 15, 1851. Salaün-Penquer settled with her husband in his hometown of Brest.

As often as she could, especially during the winter months, Salaün-Penquer was a regular guest in many Parisian salons . During these visits she met the writers José-Maria de Heredia , Victor Hugo , Alphonse de Lamartine and Charles Leconte de Lisle , among others . Hugo supported and encouraged her in her publications, and Leconte de Lisle paved her way to the other Parnassians . Today they are counted as part of this literary association.

Following the example of the Parisian salons, Salaün-Penquer also organized literary soirees in her house in Brest , where she read from her latest works - as in Paris. Together with her husband Auguste, who was Mayor of Brest from 1871 to 1881, she was one of the founders of the Musée des beaux-arts de Brest in 1875 .

When her husband Auguste died in 1882, she commissioned the sculptor Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi to design the tomb. From then on she withdrew from social life and died seven weeks before her 72nd birthday on December 19, 1889 in Brest.
