Léon Vanderkindere

Léon-Albert-Victor-Joseph Vanderkindere (born February 22, 1842 in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean / Sint-Jans-Molenbeek , † November 9, 1906 in Uccle / Ukkel ) was a Belgian historian. From 1872 he was professor at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (and its rector in 1880/81 and 1891) and from 1884 a member of the Commission royale d'Histoire. From 1900 to 1906 he was mayor of Uccle / Ukkel. His father was the physician and liberal politician Albert Vanderkindere ; In this capacity he fought for the recognition of the Dutch language as the second official language of Belgium. Léon Vanderkindere was married to a sister of the Brussels Mayor Karel Buls .
