Löbenichtsches Realgymnasium
The Löbenichtsche Realgymnasium was a grammar school in the Königsberg district of Löbenicht . After the Altstädtisches Gymnasium and the Kneiphöfisches Gymnasium , it was the third oldest in East Prussia's provincial capital.
history
The school is mentioned in a document in 1441 as the Löbenich City Parish School. Since 1525 also a Latin school , the institute was greatly enlarged in 1581 until it received a new building in 1644. In the fire of Löbenicht in 1764, the burning church tower fell on the school building, whereupon it also went up in flames and had to be rebuilt again.
In 1811 the school, previously owned by the church, was taken over by the city. From 1855 to 1859 a new building was built in Tudor style as a municipal secondary school on Münchenhofplatz. The school became an upper secondary school in 1865 and a secondary school in 1882. A gymnasium was built in 1895 and a large extension was built between 1911 and 1914. Emil Doerstling , a teacher at the school, painted the frescoes in the auditorium .
