Lübeck marathon
The Lübeck Marathon (official name Stadtwerke Lübeck Marathon ) is a marathon in Lübeck that has been taking place in October since 2008. It is organized by the Lübecker Marathon eV and the Hanseatic City of Lübeck. As part of the event, there will be a half marathon , a company relay (10 × 4.2 km), a family run (4.2 km) and a school run over 2.1 km.
route
The course is a turning point route that leads from Lübeck's old town over Travemünder Allee in the direction of Lübeck-Travemünde and back. The turning point of the marathon in 2008 was on Brodtener Ufer . In the course of the route, the approximately 800-meter-long Herrentunnel has to be crossed twice. There are around 50 meters in altitude to overcome.
In 2009 the organizer made slight changes to the route. The marathon course now runs past the Holstentor and the turning point has been moved directly to the Travemünde beach promenade. The routes of the other competitions remained unchanged.
history
A marathon took place in Lübeck in 2001 and 2002. The route at that time led from Lübeck's Holstentorplatz via Stockelsdorf and Bad Schwartau to the destination at the Buniamshof . However, disputes between the organizer and the organizing clubs Lübecker SC and ATSV Stockelsdorf meant that the event was no longer continued from 2003.
In 2007 a first attempt to organize another marathon in Lübeck initially failed. It was not until the following year that the new Lübeck Marathon was finally organized.
When it premiered on October 26, 2008, the event immediately became the marathon with the most participants in Schleswig-Holstein .
With 2808 reports, a new attendance record was achieved in 2010. Also in 2010, a school run with a length of 2.1 km was offered for the first time. However, this was not scored because the route was incorrectly indicated by the marshals.
Since March 19, 2011, the organizing team of the Stadtwerke Lübeck Marathon has founded its own club. The association is called Lübeck Marathon eV and organizes the Lübeck Marathon together with the Hanseatic City of Lübeck. Until 2010 the marathon was organized by TSV Siems and the Hanseatic City of Lübeck.
