history

The roots of the company go back to the years 1891 and 1915, when the founding generation first appeared on the market as traders under the names Lüchinger and Schmid . In 1938 the collective company Lüchinger & Co. was converted into a stock corporation. In 1969 the collective company Schmid & Co. was converted into the Aktiengesellschaft Eierschmid AG . In 1992 Lüchinger AG and Eierschmid AG merged to form Lüchinger + Schmid AG . To optimize the organization, the new company merged various sales locations and concentrated production in Kloten. 2000 founded the Orofrais SA in Bussigny as a distribution organization for the French-speaking Switzerland . In 2003 Proei AG took it over and outsourced the dyeing activities to Eicolor AG. In 2004, Lüchinger + Schmid started manufacturing egg products in small containers under the Ovotop brand , and added further offers in the years that followed.

On 18 March 2010, the broadcast showed 10vor10 the Swiss television with the contribution of Lazy collusion in the egg trade , the system of "protection money" for the first time around the company Lüchinger + Schmid AG. On January 25, 2011, the program Kassensturz accused the company of dubious business. Accordingly, farmers cannot freely choose their feed suppliers, while they in turn have to pay bribes to the egg dealer. In connection with the allegations, a witness hearing took place on June 27, 2012 at the Commercial Court of Zurich under the transaction number HG100154 / Z01.

In 2012 Lüchinger + Schmid took over the egg trader Hungerbühler AG and has since been the most important egg trader in Switzerland, particularly in the areas of liquid egg / egg products and imported eggs and egg products. As part of a succession plan , Lüchinger + Schmid became a subsidiary of Saviva, which is part of the Migros Cooperative Association (MGB), in 2015 . While Saviva integrated the trading part in 2017, production and processing have since been part of the Micarna Group, which also belongs to the MGB.

The egg suppliers have been checked by the STS control service since 2014 .
