Langelandsbanen (LB), a Danish private railway on Langeland , procured three tank locomotives and a steam railcar for operation on the Rudkøbing – Bagenkop and Skrøbelev – Spodsbjerg lines that opened in 1911 .

After the LB M 1 steam multiple unit did not meet expectations, it was converted into a passenger coach in 1914 and another steam locomotive, the LB 4 , was purchased for it.

history

In 1911, Henschel & Sohn in Kassel supplied three two-cylinder superheated steam tender locomotives with a 1 'C wheel arrangement with the serial numbers 10311-10313 . Each of these locomotives cost 23,975 Danish kroner .

They had frame and side water tanks and were equipped with compressed air brakes around 1942 .

After the railway company very soon carried out passenger traffic on its route network with railcars, at the beginning of the Second World War they were partly available for other tasks.

LB 1

The locomotive was loaned to Vejle – Vandel – Grindsted Jernbane - (VVGJ) in early 1945 . The right cylinder was blown up there by saboteurs on March 10, 1945. The locomotive was then shut down and taken out of service in 1952. In the same year it was sold to the H. I. Hansen company in Odense for scrapping.

LB 2

The LB 2 was awarded to Odense Sukkerkogeri in 1941 . In 1944 she came on loan to Vejle-Vandel-Grindsted Jernbane - (VVGJ) and after only a short assignment to Horsens-Juelsminde Jernbane - (HJJ) , where she remained until 1946. The last investigation takes place in 1952. It was taken out of service in December 1955 and taken out of service in 1957. It was handed over to Ringsted Jernhandel for scrapping in 1957 .

LB 3

In 1946 the locomotive was loaned to Amagerbanen - (AB) . Subsequently, in 1948 he was employed on loan at Sydfyenske Jernbaner - (SFJ). The last examination took place in 1952. It remained in service until it was shut down in February 1956. The decommissioning and scrapping in Rudkøbing by Odense Produktforretning took place in 1962.
