The LG P990 Optimus Speed , also known as the LG Optimus 2X in various countries , is a smartphone from LG Electronics . It was launched on March 31, 2011 as an unbranded version. It was the world's first smartphone with a dual core processor .

Technology and equipment

The P990 Optimus Speed has a full HD video recording that can be recorded using the integrated 8 megapixel digital camera . It also uses a Tegra 2 dual-core processor from NVIDIA with 2 × 1 GHz clock frequency. Another special feature is the HDMI connection. The P990 was at the start of sales, after the Nokia N8 and Nokia E7 , only the third smartphone that came with this interface. Further functions are WLAN according to the standards 802.11 b / g / n, HSDPA with 10.2 Mbit / s, HSUPA with 5.76 Mbit / s, and Bluetooth 2.1. A UMTS / 3G capability as well as EDGE and GPRS are also available. LG uses Google's Android operating system version 2.2.2 (“Froyo”) with LG's own user interface “LG-S Class” for the P990 . On November 1, 2011, the company began updating to Android 2.3.4 (“Gingerbread”) across Europe. On November 2, 2011, LG Mobile announced that an update to Android 4 ("Ice Cream Sandwich") was planned. On December 26, 2011, the second quarter of 2012 was named as the update period. The device works as the world's first Android smartphone with an NVIDIA Tegra ™ 3 quad-core processor with 4 × 1.5 GHz clock frequency and has a 4.7-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 720 × 1280 pixels. It has been offered by LG in Germany since June 2012 .
