laSexta ( The Sixth ) is the sixth national television broadcaster in Spain . At the beginning of 2011, LaSexta had a market share of 6.3%.

Originally founded in 2000 by private Spanish and international media investors; In 2005 the group received a license to broadcast unencrypted terrestrial nationwide; the station has been broadcasting since 2006. At times there were u. a. also the offshoots LaSexta 2 and LaSexta 3, which have since been discontinued and only showed films.

Since 2012, following its merger with Antena 3, the station has been part of the listed television group Atresmedia , which owns a total of 6 television channels. The main shareholders of Atresmedia are the Planeta media group (with 42%) and Bertelsmann (19%).
