Farinera del Sindicat Agrícola

La Farinera del Sindicat Agrícola de Cervera is a historic mill and factory building on the outskirts of the Catalan city of Cervera in the Comarca Segarra , a district in the province of Lleida .

The building was designed by the Catalan architect and well-known representative of modernism , Cèsar Martinell i Brunet , and built between 1920 and 1922 on behalf of the former Union Cervera agricultural school .

The main building with industrial siding to the Lleida - Manresa - Barcelona railway line consists of three main sections: the machine house of the flour mills with twelve underground silos for grain and flour, the bread factory and the roofed water tower with a dome, which also represented the bread factory's symbol. Also known as the Tower of Labor ( Torre del Treball ), this tower, Farinera i torre d'aigua , forms part of the Torre de la Fe tower trilogy , the towers of the former Torre de la Ciència University of Cervera.

The facades of the main building underline the architectural style of Catalan modernism in the 19th century. In 2002, La Farinera del Sindicat Agrícola de Cervera was placed under monument protection due to its special architectural values: Edificis modernistes de Catalunya and Béns Culturals d'Interès Nacional .

In 2009 the government of Catalonia, Ministerio de Fomento, commissioned the renovation of the facade.
