Cèsar Martinell i Brunet (born December 24, 1888 in Valls , † November 19, 1973 in Barcelona ) was a Catalan architect and an important representative of modernism .
biography
Cèsar Martinell finished his architecture studies in Barcelona in 1916. He was a student of Antoni Gaudí . In 1923 he became dean of the School of Architecture and in 1929 professor at the Art School in Barcelona. He wrote numerous works, in particular on Baroque architecture and sculpture, on the theory and work of Gaudí, and on agricultural architecture in Catalonia, an area in which he was the undisputed expert.
Works
Cèsar Martinell deserves to be lined up with his teacher Antoni Gaudí, Josep Puig i Cadafalch , Lluís Domènech i Montaner and Josep Maria Jujol .
