The La Luz Fútbol Club , La Luz for short , also known as La Luz Tacurú Fútbol Club , is a football club from Montevideo in Uruguay .

history

The association is located in the Montevidean Barrio Aires Puros . It was founded on April 19, 1929. The establishment took place in the bar and canteen of Faustino Fernández in the Aires Puros district. At the time, it was the only one in the district that had electric light and was located on the corner of Tudurí (now Francisco Goyén ) and Propios (now Batlle y Ordóñez ). Thus one gave the association the name "La Luz" (Eng .: "The light"). The jersey was white at the time with a green pocket. The white color was chosen because it was the cheapest.

In 1962 they became champions of the intermedia and in 1963 they played in the Uruguayan second division for the first time. There the club debuted on June 30, 1963 with a 0-1 home defeat against Mar de Fondo . The first competitive match contributed on July 14, 1963 Julio Maciel in the encounter against Colón. In Primera B they stayed until 1971. From 1972 they started again in Primera C and returned to the second division with the championship title in 1976. 1978 was the most successful year in the club's history when they placed in the top four. This resulted in the right to start in the Liga Mayor, which is composed of top division clubs and those in the interior of the country . The next relegation followed in 1982. Under coach Gustavo Bueno you rose 1992 as the undefeated champion of the C back to the Segunda División . The promotion to the Primera División then failed in 1993 because of the superior clubs Basáñez and Central Español . In 1994 they landed in the second division (Primera B) in the middle of the table and finished in seventh place. The descent in 1995 was followed by a critical phase, as the continued existence of the club was at stake.

After being defeated in the championship final against Uruguay Montevideo FC in 2002 , they became champions of the Liga Metropolitano Amateur of the UP in 2003 and put Daniel Martínez as the top scorer of this event.

In 2004, 2005, 2006, 2006/07 and 2007/08 one belonged again to the Segunda División. In those years, Diego Díaz in 2005 and 2006 and Jorge Delgado in 2006/07 were the club's most successful goal scorers. In the 2008/09 season they completed the Apertura of the second division, but then had to withdraw from the game there for financial reasons. Due to unpaid debts from the previous season, the AUF had ordered both La Luz and Basáñez to be relegated by a resolution of September 17, 2008.

The club's team plays in the third division in the Segunda División Amateur , which is the successor league of the Liga Metropolitana Amateur . The games are played in the Parque "Luis Rivero", which holds 3,000 visitors and was inaugurated in 1962 with a friendly game between La Luz and the Uruguayan football giant Nacional .

Also in 2013, the club, as whose coach Lirio Morales was named in September 2013, is struggling with massive financial problems. For the 2013/14 season, the club's team was therefore excluded from gaming due to unpaid liabilities.
