La Paz is a city in Uruguay .

geography

It is located in the 5th sector of the Canelones Department in southern Uruguay. To the west are Villa Paz SA (Aires Puros) , Barrio La Lucha , Barrio Cópola and Costa y Guillamón . Las Piedras borders in the north .

history

The city was founded in 1872 as a place of retreat and relaxation for the wealthier residents of Montevideo . On December 19, 1957, La Paz was given the status of "Ciudad" by Law No. 12,477.

Infrastructure

education

La Paz has two secondary schools ( Liceo ). These are Liceo Nº 1 de La Paz "Javier de Viana" , founded on March 16, 1964, and Liceo Nº 2 de La Paz , which began teaching in 1992.

Sports

The soccer club Club Oriental de Football , founded on June 24, 1924, is based in La Paz and plays home games in the Parque Oriental, which holds 1,500 spectators . In the 2010/11 season, the club's team will compete in Segunda "B" .
