La Pocatière is a city in the Canadian county of the same name Kamouraska (regional county municipality ) and at the same time its capital. The city on the east bank of the St. Lawrence River had a total of 4,575 inhabitants in 2006 and has an area of 21.73 km².

La Pocatière was founded in 1670 by François Pollet de la Combe Pocatière.

La Pocatière is located between Québec , the maritime provinces and the Gaspésie Peninsula . The Trans-Canada Highway runs from Québec to La Pocatière. The further north running Autoroute 20 leads to Rimouski . La Pocatière is connected to the VIA Rail Canada rail network.
