La virgen roja (German: The Red Virgin ) is a Mexican film from 1942. Director of this film, which is assigned to the ranchera and adventure film genres , was Francisco Elías . Elías wrote the script together with Jorge M. Dada and also produced the film with it.
The film tells the story of Aurora, played by Anita Blanch , who finds out that her 15-year-old sister has been raped and murdered. Then she decides to pursue the perpetrator and take revenge. She confronts the murderer, played by Miguel Inclán , and kills him. As a result, she becomes a bandit under the name La virgen roja . When she kidnaps the governor, Aurora falls in love with him. At the end of the film, she gives up her criminal existence and returns to a normal life.
The film La virgen roja was produced by the production company Superfilms de América . It premiered in Mexico on January 21, 1943.
