Labyrinth is the fifth solo album of the Berlin rapper Kontra K . It was released on May 20, 2016 by the music label Four Music . The album was released as standard, premium and Amazon editions, including instrumentals .
background
The album was announced in early March 2016. On April 5, the entire title list was released. Among others, the rappers Bonez MC , RAF Camora and Skinny Al are featured with guest contributions on the album.
In the bonus EP Vollmond , which was available together with the premium edition of the album, besides Bonez MC and Skinny Al they also worked with Fatal . With the latter, the titles Blinded and Timeless were recorded.
The singles Wie kann ich and Ikarus were published in advance as a music video on YouTube . In the music video for Inhale deeply , which was published two months after the release, the actor Christoph Letkowski played the leading role. The album reached number one in the German album charts on May 27, 2016. It was ranked 47th in the 2016 German album charts and 7th in the hip-hop annual charts.

The album received mixed reviews. Florian Peking from Laut.de criticizes the lack of variety in the album:
“So in the end it is a labyrinth that Kontra K delivers: Unfortunately, everything is the same in the maze. He is a very accomplished rapper and can always press his lyrics to the beat with full power. But you lose yourself in the constantly repeated statement of the blood-sweat-and-tears music, so that the desired energy of the songs no longer reaches you, but becomes increasingly boring. "
The hip-hop magazine rap.de does not share this assessment and looks at the album from a positive point of view:
“Every track is balanced and therefore comes across as convincing - even if the topics are mostly related to one another. However, a musical development can be recognized. [...] All around an absolutely successful album. You can almost taste the blood and sweat of Kontra K while listening; it has developed further, but at the same time remains absolutely true to its line. "
In June 2017, about a year after its release, the album reached gold status.
